1st Rishikesh Inaugural Orienteering competition

Successfully conducted the 1st Rishikesh Inaugural Orienteering competition last 15th September.

40+ boys and girls participated. This is the 1st time that Orienteering was played in the state of Uttarakhand, India. 

Only 5 Players had missed Control points. 2 courses were set for the players. 

Special thanks to Deepti Sisodia, Kishori Lal Azad, Om Prakash Gupta Dp Raturi sir, Madam Poonam Chauhan ji, Madam Lovely Ramola ji, Dr Rakesh Semwal (National President All India Yog Sangathan) Shubham Pal ji for making this event fun and engaging for the young players, and Gaurav Singh for the coordination of the event. Also big thanks to Vrinda and Jhanvi who made sure no control points were lost or tampered with. 

Maps was drawn by locals.

Orienteering demo game for Delhi Sports Journalist Association

A demo of orienteering was organized for the members of the Delhi Sports Journalist Association at the New Delhi Dhyan Chand National Stadium on the 29th of August.
Giulia Zenere PWT academy Project Manager, held a short seminar about orienteering, and Jaroslav Kacmarcik, of the IOF GDC, supervised the game.

A dozen sport journalists had the chance to try the sport and they enjoyed a lot!

10 control points inside and outside the stadium.

Another big step ahead for our beloved sport in this country!

Orienteering presented at India National Sport Day

Last 29th August Park World Tour was honoured to be present at the celebration of India National Sport Day.

The Dhyanchand Foundation organised a celebration at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. The event, dedicated to honoring the legacy of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, was attended by a host of sports celebrities, business personalities, and dignitaries.

On that day, Giulia Zenere, Park World Tour Academy Project manager, presented the sport of orienteering in India, in front of a large number of sport people dignitaries.
Jaroslav Kacmarcik, IOF Global Development Commission, was actively present and supervising the demonstration of orienteering held in the stadium.

Shri Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament, listened carefully and saw the potential of the sport in India, being orienteering a sport which can be played almost anywhere and with no need of infrastructures or special equipments, and can be played at any age, it is very much suitable to a large scale of Indians also in the rural areas.

We as PWT are deeply grateful to Shri Gaurav Singh, President of the Dhyanchand Foundation, for all his efforts in developing orienteering in India, together with the former international umpire Kishori Lal Azad, Sanjeev Pandey from SBI and Vivek Singh, General Secretary Dhyanchand Foundation .

PWT Academy meets India/2

Recently, Giulia – Project Manager of PWT Academy, visited the Lovely Professional University of Jalandhar, Punjab (LPU) with the help of Dev Balhara. 

Successful meetings were held with Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal, Associate Dean at Division of Students Affairs and Dr. V. Kaul, Professor and Associate Director – Division of Sport, who are keen to introduce orienteering and add a new sport to the 26 already practiced at the LPU. 

The campus of the University is very big, 6km square, more than 25.000 students, 150 programs, students from more than 26 countries, and it is suitable to host both orienteering seminars but also orienteering races.
